Preppy Profile: Taylor Townsend

I don't know if anyone remembers the uber-preppy Taylor Townsend from the popular TV show the OC...but she's one of my alltime favourite characters! Here is a little cheers to the high-strung yet perky Taylor!

A typical Taylor outfit. She's got her pearls, her polo, her cable-knit sweater. She looks cute and put together to say the least. She is quite funny though!

Ok so I noticed this idea has been going on with a few other people's blog posts so as the natural trend slave that I am, I decided to give it a go as it looked fun. Not your basic basics

Gap has come out with some really cute and wearable spring items that you can also use to make the transition from chilly Canadian weather into (hopefully) warm sunshine! Here are some of what I think are the most essential peices for your new wardrobe. I love the belt on this t-shirt dress and the 3/4 folded sleeves give it a unique look. I love this striped button-down dress too. It has a sporty side to it but still stays a classic. The seersucker cami is originally in the sleepwear category but I think it would be perfect with some white shorts or light pink straight leg trousers. Speaking of light pink, these cropped pants are the sweetest shade! I say: pick up a pair ASAP because they are going to sell out quickly!

Payless Preppy Picks

(Try saying that seven times fast!) As I and several other preppy bloggers have noticed, Payless Shoes has started stocking some quite yummy looking flats that come in a variety of cute nautical or preppy styles. My favourites are the red boat shoes (that I really want to wear with my navy seersucker blazer...posted below) and the kelly green flats with the grosgrain ribbon bows. Those would look especially cute for spring time worn with crisp white capris, a ribbon belt, and pink polo.

NY and Co Goes Lilly

Going through their website made me see that NY and Co is clearly trying out something new and pink and green. In fact, some of the pieces remind me distinctively of items from Lilly Pulitzer. I'm sure you'll notice the similarities too. It's not a bad thing at all though and I would say get over to your closest NY and Co and pick of some of these preppy and affordable essentials!
